Within the 240 stories tested in our analysis this year, the stories that resonated the most with people were related to the cost-of-living, civil unrest, humanitarian crisis and the climate crisis.

After a number of years of navigating a pandemic, the level of stress dipped in early 2022, but has risen again throughout 2023.

According to the Core Emotional Tracker, 34% of people are experiencing worry, stress, anxiety or frustration. Many of the news stories that resonate with people are impacting the mood of the nation.
