WhatsApp Username rollout - Reserve your Business username

Usernames on WhatsApp Business is rolling out gradually over the next few months and might not be available to you yet. In the meantime, we recommend reserving your business username. 

Usernames on WhatsApp Business are an optional feature that lets you create a unique identifier for your business (for example, @YourBusinessName) to help customers easily find and recognize your business. Customers can use your username to start a chat with your business more easily without needing your phone number. Your business phone number will still be visible on your business profile. Your business username is different from your Business name (the name that appears in your Business profile).

Reserve your business username

·       Go to your Business profile.

·       Tap Reserve username > Reserve username.

·       Enter the username you’d like to reserve and tap Done.

Usernames are unique and generally available on a first-come, first-served basis on WhatsApp. Some usernames may be held and won’t be available to claim.

Link your accounts for a consistent username across Meta

If you'd like to use the same username you have on Instagram or Facebook, you'll first need to link your WhatsApp Business account with your Facebook Page or Instagram Business profile. This lets you claim your existing username on WhatsApp and maintain a consistent brand identity across Meta apps.

To link your accounts, go to Tools > Facebook and Instagram in the WhatsApp Business app and follow the prompts. Learn how to link your WhatsApp Business with Facebook and Instagram.

Some Notes:

·       Must be between 3 and 35 characters long

·       Can contain lowercase letters (a to z), numbers (0 to 9), underscores (_), and periods (.)

·       Can’t only contain numbers

·       Must be unique

·       Can’t contain restricted words or phrases

·       If you see this error message: “This username is not available”, the username might be taken

·       No one can see your reserved username until it becomes active. Once active, customers who don't have your business phone number saved will see your username instead. Customers who already have your number will continue to see it as before.

·       Reserving a business username currently isn’t available on WhatsApp Web. If you’d like to reserve a username, please use your mobile device.
