BeReal launches US advertising platform led by former TikTok exec.

Social platform BeReal announced this month that they will be launching its native advertising platform across the United States.

The app, which was founded by two French entrepreneurs in 2019 has gained significant momentum with younger audiences across Europe and the US (Within Irish market, its main users are under 25yrs old, TGI, 2024). It mainly differentiates itself against other competing platforms such as Instagram and TikTok as being the truly ‘authentic’ and ‘unfiltered’ social platform. With users only having a short window of opportunity each day to share a photo with their followers.

The highly anticipated move towards monetisation is being led by Ben Moore, who has over a decade of experience in global media buying partnerships and strategies in his previous role at TikTok.

Since its conception, BeReal has had over 200 international advertisers so far on the platform, with many running advertising trials across their two main advertising formats, in-feed ads and ‘takeovers’. Recent ad campaign research by the platform from Levi’s has claimed that it achieved over five times higher engagement than other platforms.

Why you should care?

Despite advertising not currently being available within the Republic of Ireland yet, BeReals advertising transition into the United States shows their continued momentum to providing top class, non-intrusive advertising to more markets. Furthermore, with BeReals key demographic being user under the age of 25 in the Republic of Ireland. The social platform will be a great facilitator for targeting that elusive target audience when it becomes available.
