Google’s June 2025 Core Update: What We Know So Far
If you’ve noticed search rankings bouncing around more than usual lately, you’re not alone. The past four weeks have been marked by significant organic search volatility across many industries. And then Google officially announced its latest core algorithm update began rolling out on June 30th, 2025. According to Google, the rollout will take approximately three weeks to complete.
Another Core Update, Another Wave of Turbulence
Following weeks of ranking fluctuations, Google has confirmed that this latest update is part of its ongoing efforts to improve search quality and relevance.
Currently, the most noticeable movement in Ireland appears to be within the security and insurance industries. Websites in these verticals have reported visibility and organic traffic shifts since July 1st. However, as with any core update, we advise against rushing into reactive changes—especially while the update is still in progress.
Should You Act Now?
The short answer: not yet.
Core updates often cause temporary shifts as Google reassesses the relevance of content across the web. However, this is a good time to diagnose whether your site may have been affected and begin a measured evaluation.
Here’s How To Start:
Review Your Top Pages and Queries
Identify which of your key landing pages and keywords have shifted in ranking using Google Search Console to compare pre vs post, or year over year.
Assess the Type of Drop
Not all ranking changes require the same response.
Small Drop (e.g., position 2 → 4):
This might be natural fluctuation. Do nothing yet.
Large Drop (e.g., position 4 → 29):
This may indicate that Google has reassessed the intent or quality relevance of your content. A deeper content audit might be needed to check for gaps in E-E-A-T outdated information, or thin content. Don’t start anything until Google has announced the roll out as complete.
What Comes Next?
We’re still early in the rollout window, so expect more movement in the days to come. For now, our guidance is clear: observe, document, and prepare—but don’t rush into changes. Once the update has fully rolled out and the dust settles, you’ll have a more accurate view of where your site stands.
